Shrub is a generic classification given to a heterogeneous group of roses that don't fit into a category. Some are compact, growing no more than 3 feet tall; other sprawl to as much as 12 to 15 feet wide. What stands out about this class is it's vigor, repeat cycles of blooms, disease resistance, and low maintenance. Some shrub roses make ideal hedges; others perform well as ground covers and in beds.
